Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. As a shy kid, blushing, hiding and crying were my known tactics of mine when forced out of my very comfortable shell. The first time I really embraced my singing, Jealous by Labrinth, was the first time even the people who picked on me were stunned.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? John Legend, Evolver Lecrae, Church Clothes 2 Trip Lee, The Waiting Room Trip always does an incredible job detailing what it’s like to suffer long and yet still believe hard in God. Evolver was the soundtrack to my childhood. Owl City too Lecrae’s albums fed my early faith and stopped me from lying to God about myself.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Expectations” Expectations is a song I can truly say was birthed out of hope. Life was going crazy, and at my first sign of relief, I was beyond grateful; expectant for more than I had been in a while. Things didn’t become perfect, but my heart found strength.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? My first gig with Sofar Sounds London is a core memory for me. Team Miranda., all awesome artists in their own right, really brought my vision to life and we had a great time with a great crowd. Good friends make these opportunities special.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I’m not in this for awards, but I see award shows as great opportunities, especially for small acts. I’d like to connect more in that way and sing at a show like the BRITS or the Grammys. Never know, one day you’ll hear Expectations on TV.
