This south London-based R&B vocal trio Mis-Teeq made their breakthrough with the single "Why?," an innovative crossbreed of R&B and clipped garage beats which reached the UK Top 10 in 2001. The follow-ups,"‘All I Want" (produced by U.K. garage outfit Sunship), and "One Night Stand" both broached the U.K. Top Five and the trio’s debut album, Lickin’ on Both Sides, was compared to Destiny’s Child with many critics praising its sassy lyrics and smooth harmonies. Mis-Teeq returned to the U.K. charts in March 2003 with the number 2 hit "Scandalous," which subsequently broke into the U.S. Top 40, doubtless helped by its inclusion on the soundtrack of Catwoman. The trio’s second album, Eye Candy, confirmed a greater shift away from their garage roots toward the lucrative R&B market.
