Artist Biography
Cassablanca's Nass El-Ghiwane are a chaabi (popular) band, who blend Sufi and Gnaoua music with highly political lyrics and the theatrical presentation of Sufi mystics. Their songs lashed out at governmental incompetence and corruption. This five-man outfit became a quartet after lead singer Bojmia was killed in a car crash in the early '80s. Their best known hit is "The Table." ~ Leon Jackson
