About Neves E Silva
Trombonist, guitarist, and drummer Antonio Neves and percussionist Thiaguinho Silva are veterans of the Brazilian jazz, samba, and MPB scenes. The former is the son of saxophonist/flutist Eduardo Neves while the latter is the song of legendary percussionist Robertinho Silva. Though they've known one another for decades, they didn't begin working together until 2023 when they recorded "Das Neves" for Mr. Bongo's now classic Hidden Waters: Strange and Sublime Sounds of Rio de Janeiro compilation. In 2025, they got back together to with a band that included Antonio's brother Edu Neves (credited as Eduardo Sant'anna), a veteran trumpet player, pianist Luiz Otávio, bassist/guitarist Guto Wirtti, saxophonist Lessandro Lessa, and rapper JOCA. Their 2026 extended EP, titled Ladeiras De Santa Teresa (Hills of Saint Theresa) offered six tracks that included "Das Neves," and is arguably the first Brazilian jazz recording to be led by two drummers.
