About New Years Day
Hometown
Anaheim, CA, United States
Formed
2005
Genre
Hard Rock
Employing an opulent mix of spirited pop-punk and flamboyant, goth-tinged stadium rock, New Years Day invokes the dark pageantry of artists like Evanescence, Garbage, Alkaline Trio, and Motionless in White. The band formed in 2005 and began gigging locally and building up an online presence on social networking sites. Debuting in the fall of 2006 with their self-titled EP, the group issued their first full-length, My Dear, in the spring of 2007. Three more albums -- 2013's Victim to Villain, 2015's Malevolence, and 2019's Unbreakable -- followed, along with lineup changes, before the group reappeared in 2024 after a five-year hiatus with their fifth release, Half Black Heart.
Members of New Years Day include, or have included, Russell Dixon, Adam Lohrbach, and Nikki Misery.
