Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I started experimenting with music production in 2015 when my high-school punk band lost our lead guitarist/sound engineer to boarding school. We crowdfunded an EP on Kickstarter, which became the first project I ever recorded.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Childish Gambino, Because the Internet The Avalanches, Since I Left You The Beach Boys, Pet Sounds Pet Sounds is one of my first loves. Because The Internet inspired me to create immersive experiences that go beyond music. Since I Left You is an album I've picked apart countless times, yet I get something different out of it, every listen.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Solstice” Solstice is the first track I released. It was a big deal for me because I'm a huge perfectionist. I made the instrumental by writing a faux Motown song and chopping it up. When the lyrics came together it became a mid-Winter love letter to Summer.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? My debut live performance as NIC@NITE took place on 11/11/22 at The Gold Giraffe's 'KNIGHT BRO' Release Party at Blank Space in St. Louis. The community is so visceral here and it felt like being adopted into a family.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I've been working on a project since 2018 that I hope to finish and release within the next year. It's pretty ambitious and it means a lot to me. But, it's also one of those things that won't be ready until it's ready. When it's here, it'll be right.
