Guitarist Max Light is a technically gifted improviser known for his crisp fretboard attack and harmonically sophisticated approach to post-bop jazz and fusion. The second-place finisher in the 2019 Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz International Guitar Competition, Light debuted his trio with 2020's Herplusme, before teaming with Preminger for 2023's Henceforth. Chaotic Neutral, a quartet date with pianist Julian Shore, arrived in 2024. He has also performed with artists like trumpeter Jason Palmer, tenor saxophonist Noah Preminger, and as a member of bassist Kaisa Mäensivu's Kaisa's Machine; appearing on 2023's Taking Shape and 2025's Moving Parts.
Max Light has also released music as a member of Max Light Quartet.
