Artist Biography
After Hollie Warren, Suki Sou, and Linda Jarvis' Houdini Kill Sale failed to make it past the early stages of development, Jarvis formed Echo Lake. Warren and Sou joined up with Sophy Hollington and formed Novella. It wasn’t until 2011 that the band debuted with a double A-side, "The Things You Do"/"Oh Brian." The accomplished, '60s psychedelic-tinged sound was a result of six months of hunkering down without any live appearances. The payoff was that the band, with help from Iain Laws on drums, soon began playing with the likes of Dum Dum Girls and Veronica Falls before releasing its self-titled EP in May 2012. Novella's sound developed further while Warren's vocals gave their lo-fi aesthetic a sumptuously melodic backbone. ~ Daniel Clancy
