The hip-hop and soul duo NxWorries features Anderson .Paak and Knxwledge, two stalwarts of the 2000s L.A. underground scene whose work together is soulful yet contemporary.
• NxWorries debuted in 2015 with the singles “Suede” and “Link Up.” The former would surpass 2 million streams that year.
• Before NxWorries, Knxwledge had prolifically released beat tapes and produced for Joey Bada$$ and Blu. Meanwhile, Anderson garnered cult acclaim for his 2014 album Venice.
• The same year that NxWorries formed, Knxwledge produced for Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp A Butterfly, while Anderson .Paak appeared on albums by Dr. Dre and The Game.
• The track “Suede” marked the debut of Anderson .Paak’s signature “yes lawd” ad-lib. It would become the title of the duo’s 2016 debut album.
• Yes Lawd! went Top 5 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, marking a revival for Stones Throw Records, once home to Madlib, J Dilla, and Mayer Hawthorne.
