Oceanvs Orientalis is a project of Turkish composer and producer Safak Ozkutle, who incorporates traditional rhythms and instrumentation into hypnotic house and downtempo tracks. Initially active as a DJ before focusing on live performances, Oceanvs Orientalis has become a staple of dance festivals around the world. His debut album, Untold/Unknown, was released in 2015, and Ozkutle founded the Barcelona-based Kanto Records in 2017. The downtempo full-length Ex Nihilo appeared in 2020, and 2024's Portrait of the Obscure ventured into progressive house, drum'n'bass, and funk.
