Artist Biography
Detroit techno duo Octave One includes brothers Lenny and Lawrence Burden (with help sometimes from their siblings Lorne, Lynell, and Lance). Octave One began disseminating their edgy, bass-driven techno in 1989 with the single “I Believe,” which found favor with the club crowd. In 1990, the Burdens formed their own label, 430 West Records, on which they issued a long string of 12-inch releases throughout the ‘90s and 2000s, including internationally successful “Blackwater” (2000). Octave One tour as a live electronica band, release house music under the names Random Noise Generation and Never One Sunday, and have remixed for Massive Attack, Joey Negro, DJ Rolando, and others. The full-lengths THE LIVING KEY and OFF THE GRID appeared in 1997 and 2007, respectively.
