Artist Biography
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. My first musical memory is with my father. I would watch him play his sax at the secondline, and I'd go "wow, I wanna do what daddy does!". I fell in love with music in the streets of New Orleans
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? John Coltrane, A Love Supreme Rebirth Brass Band, We Come To Party Wayne Shorter, Speak No Evil (Rudy Van Gelder Edition) (Remastered) I've always loved Wayne Shorter and Speak No Evil is hands down my favorite album. A Love Supreme is one of the most moving pieces of music of all time, but I chose We Come To Party because I was born the day my father released it.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “New Orleans Party (feat. John 'Prince' Gilbert)” This song is special because it's the first song my father and I ever recorded together.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? The most memorable moment of my career was when I played with Ralph Peterson Jr.'s at Dizzy's Jazz Club, I broke my thumb so I couldn't play. We were playing at Jazz at Lincoln Center, so I rapped instead of playing. It was my first performance there
