Owner of a strong harmonic sense, jazz and bossa nova pianist Osmar Milito built a résumé that included collaborations with Sammy Davis, Jr., Pat Metheny, Tony Bennett, and Sarah Vaughan, among many others. Brother of Hélcio Milito (from the Tamba Trio), Osmar became a professional in 1964, backing up the likes of Elis Regina, Gilberto Gil, Vinicius de Moraes, and Jorge Ben. After spending a season in Mexico, he settled in the U.S. for two years, during which he accompanied Sergio Mendes. Returning to Brazil in the '70s, he continued to work with top MPB artists such as Chico Buarque and Nana Caymmi and instrumental musicians like Pascoal Meirelles and Paulinho da Costa. His first solo album was recorded in 1971, and he continued to periodically release solo material while collaborating with others until his death in 2024.
Osmar Milito has also released music as a member of Bossa Rio.
