Once a member of the Jeezy-backed group Doughboyz Cashout, Payroll Giovanni reinvigorated his brand of Detroit street rap by uniting with hit producer Cardo.
• While Payroll’s father is from Detroit, his mother hails from San Francisco. The rapper has expressed his love for Bay Area hip-hop.
• Payroll Giovanni became a standout member of the Detroit rap supergroup Doughboyz Cashout, which merged two crews, Doughboyz and Cashoutboyz, in 2006.
• In 2013, Doughboyz Cashout signed with Jeezy’s CTE World label. That year, they released the free mixtape Boss Yo Life Up Gang, featuring plenty of DJ Mustard beats.
• Payroll Giovanni partnered with fellow CTE artist and hit-making producer Cardo for the celebrated 2016 album Big Bossin Vol. 1. The sequels Big Bossin Vol. 1.5 (2017) and Big Bossin Vol. 2 (2018) dropped on Def Jam.
Payroll Giovanni has also released music as a member of Bylug and Doughboyz Cashout.
