In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. One of my first musical memories is singing the Little Mermaid for weeks on end when I was 5. "Part of Your World" was my anthem. I sang it in my first talent show in kindergarten dressed like Ariel, and my mom set up a whole underwater scene.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Lana Del Rey, Norman F*****g Rockwell! Radiohead, In Rainbows SZA, Ctrl I think these are the three most perfect albums, along with all of Frank Ocean's discography. This is what I listen to on repeat. I think they are so well written and I can either really sing along, or just listen and enjoy.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Lipstick” This is my first release under the name Penny Lame. This was the start of a new era- I had gotten out of a record deal, gone through a break-up, moved to Los Angeles. It was such a moment of empowerment for me- I get that feeling every time I listen.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I got a record deal at 20 years old. I have performed to crowds of 10,000. It is a pretty surreal feeling I hope to experience again soon!
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I am playing my first show as Penny Lame this fall. I am excited to play more shows, and my goal is to book a national tour. Eventually, a world-wide tour. I just want to perform these songs to people who relate.
