Artist Biography
Chicago-based alternative country trio Philo was formed in 1995 by singer/guitarist Jeff Cohen and drummer Chris Russell; originally a four-piece, the band split in half following an appearance at the South by Southwest festival, with bassist Johnny Nickels signing on soon after. Debuting with a cover of the Sam Cooke classic "Cupid" issued on the Loose Booty label, Philo signed to the Spur imprint to issue their first full-length effort, 1999's The Trouble with Girls. ~ Jason Ankeny
