About Ramsay Rawson
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail.
One of my earliest musical memories is hearing Brazilian music at home and being fascinated by the guitar and rhythm. That sound stayed with me and eventually led me to bossa nova.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular?
Henri Salvador, Best of Henri Salvador
João Gilberto, João Gilberto
Pink Martini, Non Ouais! The French Songs of Pink Martini
I chose these three albums because they capture the mix of bossa nova, French chanson and cosmopolitan influences that inspire my project, Paris Bossa Nova. Each shows how music can travel between cultures and evolve along the way.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song.
“Le Rendez-vous”
“Le Rendez-vous” is special to me because it captures the heart of Paris Bossa Nova: a French song transformed by the rhythm, harmony and intimacy of bossa nova, creating a natural dialogue between two musical worlds.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far?
One of the most memorable moments of my career was performing in Tokyo. Hearing an audience so far from home connect with the music was a powerful reminder of how naturally music can cross cultures and bring people together.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band?
I’d love to perform in Brazil someday, especially in Rio and São Paulo, and bring this project back to the place that inspired so much of its music.
