About Robert Barry
An in-demand freelance jazz drummer from Chicago, Robert Barry is most well-known as a member of Sun Ra's Arkestra. Barry's musical career began as a teenager in the late '40s. Over the years he has performed with such jazz luminaries as Miles Davis, Gene Ammons, and Johnny Griffin. He joined up with Sun Ra during the 1950s as a founding member of Space Trio and Arkestra and stayed with the legendary artist until 1978. ~ Matt Collar
