About Robert Dimbleby
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I remember overhearing the music of The Blues Brothers blasting from my parents' living room TV when I was really young. The infectious grooves and joy in the music completely captivated me and made a lasting impression.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Aretha Franklin, Young, Gifted and Black Nick Drake, Pink Moon The Beatles, Let It Be I love Let It Be for its raw and unproduced sound - It feels so human. Young, Gifted and Black just hits me in the soul. Besides her incredible voice, she's such an amazing piano player. Pink Moon I'm always coming back to - Haunting and beautiful.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Living On The Edge (Of Town)” I feel like this is the first time I've been able to combine a feel good groovy sound with lyrics that come from personal experience. I'm really happy with the production on it too - I love that dry and slightly crunchy early 70s sound.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Recording keys for a session at Abbey Road is right up there. It was incredible to record in studio 2 where The Beatles spent so much time, and to play some of the instruments that they used like the Challen Upright and the famous Mrs Mills piano.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I would love to perform a small headline tour across the uk playing my songs to people who love the music - that's a real dream of mine! But really my goal is always to just keep writing songs that feel cathartic and honest, and follow the music.
