In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. When I was about three, I was a fan of Phil Collins! I was singing his songs and banging around, so my parents bought me a drum set. My father taped a TV show featuring Phil Collins. I remember watching it and not being able to take my eyes off!
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Aaron Parks, Invisible Cinema Miles Davis, Kind of Blue Nas, Illmatic 1. Best hip-hop album of all time... New York rap at its peak. 2. Undoubtedly the jazz album that I have listened to the most. 3. This record made jazz evolve. Merging jazz with pop, rock and hip hop, Aaron Parks has inspired generations to come!
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Mascara” Mascara is the town in Algeria where my mother was born in 1954. She fled Algeria because of the decolonization war and I composed this piece to pay homage to her. I recorded it as member of King of Panda.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? When I played my music in New York City, at Smalls and Zinc Bar. Playing my compositions in these legendary venues for the first time will remain etched in my memory.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? My absolute dream is to play under my name at The Village Vanguard, the historical jazz venue in NYC!
