In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail.
Probably sitting in my crib listening to 10,000 Maniacs unplugged. That whole record is great, but Because the Night takes the cake for me. So much power to it that it resonated with a two-year-old me.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular?
Swimming Sisters, Latest Hits!, Vol. 2
The Beatles, The Beatles (The White Album)
Yo La Tengo, Painful
All 3 are masterclasses in songwriting, but also in creating textures and sounds that compliment the essence of the music well. As an artist, texture has always been a big part of music for me, and all three of these records pair both perfectly.

“If I Were”
This song was recorded in a day. I had such a fun time recording it with Nick[Berry] and you can hear it in the recording. You can tell I was listening to a TON of Built to Spill and Dinosaur Jr when we recorded, and I happen to love both.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far?
I played this house show back in June and it was just a ton of fun. No more than 20 people in the room but we were super locked in, and after every show some guy would go, "holy sh*t, that was awesome." Just reminded me why I love playing live again.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band?
I would love to go on tour. Like a real 12 date tour with a band and see the country. I love to travel, and I love to play live. For me, playing my music night after night in 14 different cities and meeting new people sounds like a great time.
