Rustage is a self-described nerdcore or geek rapper who found viral success with anime-inspired raps synced to videos and graphics.
• The UK artist began rapping at 13 years old, after witnessing a friend on a Skype call struggle to rap. A joke that Rustage could do better prompted him to prove it.
• Rustage’s raps focused on his interests. His early verses dealt with video games such as Overwatch, Team Fortress 2, and Payday 2. He then moved to anime.
• Rustage has performed viral rap synopses of series such Naruto, Attack on Titan, and Legends of Korra. He often raps from the POV of characters.
• His 2019 song “Copy (Kakashi Rap),” based on a character from Naruto, has more than 13 million video views.
