Composer and producer Ryan Truesdell is an artist who often specializes in large-ensemble jazz pieces. Truesdell received his master's degree in jazz composition from the New England Conservatory, where he studied with trombonist Bob Brookmeyer and composer Lee Hyla. After graduating, Truesdell composed pieces for such artists as trumpeter Ingrid Jensen and pianist Frank Kimbrough. As a producer, he has worked closely with pianist Maria Schneider, with whom he is also the primary copyist. In 2012, Truesdell produced the album Centennial: Newly Discovered Works of Gil Evans, which featured previously unheard works by the legendary composer. ~ Matt Collar
