Sabïre (pronounced Sah-Beer) are an "acid metal" band based in Sydney, Australia. Their self-described genre has nothing to do with drugs, but with the corrosive substance as reflected in their modulated guitars, wet production, and biting lyrics. They were founded in December 2010 in Winnipeg, Manitoba by singer, songwriter, guitarist, and producer Scarlett Monastyrski. He tried out different lineups for a few years before going on hiatus and emigrating to Sydney. There, he established a fluid, yet more disciplined and evolving group. Sabïre rehearsed and played locally for several years before independently issuing their seven-song debut EP, Gates Ajar, in 2018; it has since been reissued by various labels. In March 2024, Sabïre issued a 2020 concert, Live in Hamburg. In June, they released Jätt, their debut studio album for Listenable Records.
