Making upbeat, elaborate indie electronic pop in the tradition of Passion Pit, Saint Mesa is the project of singer and songwriter Danny McCook. A native of Mission Viejo, California, McCook began writing songs during an illness in his teens that had him in and out of the hospital for two years. Drawing inspiration from artists including Animal Collective, Massive Attack, and Glass Animals, as well as tribal percussion, world music, and his own Chilean descent, his earliest singles received licensing requests from brands including Electronic Arts. That drew the interest of Interscope Records, which signed Saint Mesa and released his debut, Jungle EP, in late 2016. He followed that in 2017 with the singles "Beads," "Maderas," and "Lion" in anticipation of his first full-length album. ~ Marcy Donelson
