A Texas Red Dirt country band based in Houston, Texas, Scooter Brown Band is led by Scott Brown, a former Marine with a combat tour of Iraq under his belt. The band worked steadily throughout the 2010s, building up a regional following that began to crest with the 2017 release of American Son. Scott Brown formed Scooter Brown Band in 2005, adding bassist Steven Sutherland and drummer Matt Bledsoe; guitarist Nathan Lockhart would join later. Four years of gigging followed, and in 2009 they released their debut album, Between Hell & Texas. A live album, Live in Big Texas, followed in 2010, with the sophomore set Valor appearing in 2013 and an eponymous full-length album showing up in 2015. The group continued to play live, building up a fan base that greeted the release of fourth studio album American Son in 2017. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
