Artist Biography
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I am the youngest of 6 kids and grew up in the church. I remember my mum arranging songs for my whole family to sing as an 8 piece ensemble from when i could basically walk. My Dad strummed, we sang - best musical education there is!
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Jimmy Eat World, Bleed American (Deluxe Edition) Ryan Adams, Love Is Hell Stevie Wonder, Songs in the Key of Life These 3 can tell you a lot about me. They all captivated me at different ages. Stevie with his soulful, harmonically rich songs. Ryan Adams with his 80s inspired Americana and J.E.W the sound of my teenage years with earnest songs and top production
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “A River” This is the title track of my new EP and i wrote it about the wanting to help someone through dark times. Its melancholy and magical, like where i wrote it in Reykjavik - its rich production covers a lot of sounds and creates cinematic atmosphere
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I am better known for playing bass guitar in GORILLAZ live band, which has been one of the great honours of my life, but truly this year has been special, finally releasing music for the first time in over a decade. i hope you enjoy the songs so much
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? i have played as big stages as there are out there but i havent done so on my own yet. I would love to mainstage a major UK festival and headline Royal Albert Hall in the next few years.
