About Silk City
Artist Biography
Featuring A-list producers Diplo and Mark Ronson, the electronic supergroup Silk City focuses on classic house and disco music.
• Silk City can trace its roots back to Philadelphia in 2002, when Diplo met Ronson while both were working as DJs.
• Ronson and Diplo stayed friends over the years but didn’t begin working together as Silk City until 2017. The duo is named for the Philly diner where Diplo got his start DJing.
• The group made its debut in May 2018 with the single “Only Can Get Better,” featuring Australian soul singer Daniel Merriweather.
• Silk City jolted the world onto the dance floor with their fourth single, 2018’s “Electricity,” featuring British pop star Dua Lipa. The infectious house track reached No. 4 in the UK and topped Billboard’s Dance Club Songs chart.
• “Electricity” won the Grammy for Best Dance Recording in 2019.
