Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. As a kid, I’d sit quietly at the top of the stairs after bedtime, listening to my brother’s piano lessons. At the end, Hans, my future teacher, would play Jackson Browne’s “The Load Out” for my mom, her favourite song.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? D'Angelo, Voodoo John Mayer, Continuum Stevie Wonder, Innervisions Remastered These three albums really sharpened my musical taste; it's full of great lyrics, melodies, harmonies, grooves. I just have to bob my head to those beats, irresistibly.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Deja Vu (feat. Dzifa)” I love it how the vibe of the song tells the story, also the duality in the lyrics is nice. The song could be about a toxic love, or about an addiction.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I once created video series on YouTube where we created, and recorded funk songs based on the comments below the videos. A surreal co-creation with the audience, it was truly amazing.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I'd love to play at NPR's Tiny Desk once. That'd be a great honour.
