Five years after his first two mixtapes dropped in 2010, graffiti artist, beat-maker and MC SonaOne hit a high when “Apa Khabar” won Best Song at Malaysia’s Anugerah Juara Lagu. Born Mikael Adam Lozach in 1988, he co-wrote and performed the hip-hop hit with his mentor Joe Flizzow. Stylistically smooth and suave with heaps of catchy rap hooks in his arsenal, SonaOne effortlessly switches between Malay, English and French—making him a prized Kartel Records artist. Also a coveted collaborator, he’s featured on tracks with the likes of Afgan and Yuna.
