Steve Forbert is an American singer/songwriter who broke out in 1979 with "Romeo's Tune." A melodic slice of rock with a memorable piano melody, the song's poetic sense of introspection, became one of Forbert's hallmarks. After a few years, he left New York and set up shop in Nashville, mounting a comeback with 1988's Streets of This Town, which he followed with a string of albums throughout the '90s. His 2002 tribute to Jimmie Rodgers, Any Old Time, earned a Grammy nomination. Heading into the 2010s, he continued to release albums, offering a pair of late-career highlights in 2012's Over with You and 2018's The Magic Tree. He remained prolific into the next decade, with Moving Through America (2022) and Daylight Savings Time (2024). He also remixed his 2015 album, Compromised, and re-released it in 2025 as The Things That I See.
