About Suvome
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail.
From Canadian folk, church music, and Hendrix, with the hiss and flutter of vinyl. Stories and melodies felt alive, soaked in atmosphere. We knew we wanted to make music that could move people in some way.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular?
Billie Holiday, Billie Holiday At Jazz At the Philharmonic (Expanded Edition) [Live]
Miles Davis, Bitches Brew
Roy Harper, Stormcock
With their stripped-back beauty, dramatic intensity, and ambitious contradictions, there’s a freestyle spirit. As Van Morrison invited, “venture in the slipstream between the viaducts of your dreams.”
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song.
“Spoil”
‘Spoil’ perhaps encapsulates the sonic landscapes and intimacy of Suvome. Its slow power and grit, sucking beats and fragmented jazz mash-up, with a vocal that feels like stepping into a room of divergent memories, both mysterious and beautiful.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far?
In Japan, playing a 3am set in a decommissioned train station and then headlining a festival on the Osaka riverbank to 5,000 people was a somewhat surreal and never-to-be-repeated moment.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band?
Discovering young bands and artists who are driven by obsession and creativity. Listening to their sounds, and to what they have to say about their experience of the world, as they explore the scope and flux of music.
