If the only thing the First Class ever released was the instantly catchy, warmly nostalgic Beach Boys tribute "Beach Baby," they would still be remembered fondly as one of the high points of mid-'70s radio. The group, led by prolific British songwriter John Carter, released two albums and many singles that came close to catching that same feeling, while also tackling orchestrated pop and mature rock operas on the single "Bobby Dazzler." It was undeniably difficult to live up to "Beach Baby," but the band's skills at creating melodic pop made them one of the more interesting one-hit wonders of the era.
