Rock & roll bands never really seem to die. Their essence just gets resuscitated and reincarnated into new forms and structures. Such is the case with Baltimore, MD's the Scott Farkus Affair. This quintet consists of former members of some pretty good Baltimore-area bands (Butch, 7 Mississippi). As SFA, Michael Sheppard, Michael Hilton, Joseph Novak, Joseph Haberstich, and Joseph Becker quickly gained the approval of area music critics with their adrenaline-fueled and intelligently constructed post-punk rock. Sorrows Learn to Swim, their enragingly moody debut on AmBiguous City! Records, was recorded in producer Drew Mazurek's basement and released in mid-1998. The band also appeared on AmBiguous City!'s compilation disc, The Urban Development Series, Vol. 3, with labelmates MovieGoer. ~ Roxanne Blanford
