Retro, Swedish, synth-based indie rockers the Sonnets cite the Style Council, Prefab Sprout, and Wham! as major influences, and the Malmö-based quartet's sunny yacht rock posturing and immaculately crafted sophisti-pop certainly owes more than a cursory nod to the '80s. Formed in the late 2000s around the talents of Mauricio Chifflét, Per Magnusson, Fredrik Pisch, and Tobias Söderlind, the Sonnets' debut album, Western Harbour Blue, was released in 2010. ~ James Christopher Monger
