About the Wizards
New Jersey singer and producer Joel Katz has had a lifelong love affair with the vocal group harmonies of the doo wop era, and has tirelessly promoted the genre as well as bringing his own high, clear tenor to bear on a series of contemporary recordings that carry on the tradition, often under the name Joel & the Dymensions. He has also sung lead for a number of other groups, including the Wizards, who were formed in 1981 for a studio project. The Wizards per se remained a recording group with Katz on lead vocals until roughly 1985. Collectables released a sampler CD of the Wizards' studio output in 2006 under the title Doo Wop Magic. ~ Steve Leggett
