Known for their unrelentingly intense and melodic sound, Denmark's Thorium combine the icy Scandinavian melodeath style of Entombed, Dismember, and At the Gates with the palm-muted riffs and face-melting blastbeats of stalwart Florida death metal outfits like Morbid Angel, Deicide, and Brutality. The group issued their debut album, Ocean of Blasphemy, in 2000. The record elicited acclaim for its uncompromising old-school death metal sound, a style the band continued to adapt and refine on subsequent efforts Unleashing the Demons (2002), Feral Creation (2008), Blasphemy Awakes (2018), and The Bastard (2024).
Members of Thorium include, or have included, Johan Axelsson.
