About Tide Bends
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail.
My grandfather took me to see Poison when I was 7 at the Garden State Arts Center. I still remember walking through the lot past the tailgaters and the hair metal fans. It was the first time I sa that music was something people showed up for.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular?
Father John Misty, Fear Fun
Oasis, Definitely Maybe
The War on Drugs, A Deeper Understanding
A Deeper Understanding is drivey and ambient at the same time. It grows with you. Definitely Maybe travels with me everywhere. Fear Fun made me dig into lyrics more than anything else had, and made me feel things I didn't know were there.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song.
“Birthday”
"Birthday" was the most collaborative thing we'd written. It was the first song where I really dug into the harmonies and saw how they took it somewhere I didn't know it could go. One of my favorites to listen to and to play.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far?
Playing Sea Hear Now festival in 2025. Sharing a bill with acts I grew up on, on our own beach, in front of that many people. It was a couple of days of getting to live in it.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band?
We've done small runs around the Northeast, but I'd like to get further out. I want to see the connection first hand, if we're able to make one.
