About Tom Skinner
Genre
Jazz
London-based drummer, composer, guitarist and producer Tom Skinner is directly associated with genre-defying, boundary pushing musical projects. He regularly contributes to studio and live dates for significant artists, and releases records of his own. Skinner plays alongside members of Radiohead in the Smile, and is the founding, former drummer of Sons of Kemet. he traverses both meditative grooves and spiritual expression. On 2022's Voices of Bishara, his debut leader date he included saxophonists Nubya Garcia and Shabaka Hutchings. Two years later, in May 2024, Skinner issued Voices of Bishara Live at "Mu", a double length set with saxophonists, Chelsea Carmichael and Robert Stillman. In September 2025, Skinner released Kaleidoscopic Visions. With bassist Tom Herbert, cellist Kareem Dayes, Stillman and Carmichael—and electric guitar by Portishead's Adrian Utley on two cuts. The latter part of the album offered vocal collaborations with Meshell Ndegeocello, Contour, and Yaffra. ~ Fred Thomas
