In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Hearing live shows by Jimi Hendrix, Cream, Miles Davis, James Brown, Buddy Rich, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald & other jazz giants changed my life! Later in life, I got to meet some of them and play with some of my jazz heroes! Ella was cool.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Keith Jarrett Trio, Still Live Miles Davis, Seven Steps: The Complete Columbia Recordings of Miles Davis 1963-1964 Stevie Wonder, Songs in the Key of Life For me, these albums embody complete artistry. The song-writing and performances move me deeply. These are our modern masters. The Miles Davis is a boxed set; Stevie Wonder and Keith J. are double albums - my way of choosing more than 3 albums. :)
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “The Touch of Your Lips (Live)” I love "The Touch of Your Lips" because it has a great beat and a pretty, happy melody. Beauty, simplicity, and rhythm are all vividly on display in this great song by a great band!
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I'll never forget playing concerts with the great saxophonist Lee Konitz in Europe and North America. The music was beautiful; the settings were, too. Lee personified jazz in its most pure form: spontaneous, conversational and always swinging.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? My bucket is already pretty full: I've toured Europe, Asia, & North America, and played with many of my heroes & jazz legends. I'm a member of the worldwide community of artists. My bucket list: keep sharing the beauty of music with others.
