Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. My youth pastor gave me a book of songs put together by YoungLife that had chord diagrams in the back. That was the only "formal training" I got. I used to watch Dave Matthews concerts to learn more chord positions. The rest was just experimentation.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Motions” I don't broadcast my emotions. This song comes from a deep part of me that is often unseen: the vulnerable and brutally honest recesses of my heart. Burying feelings leads to complacency... I just don't want to just go through the motions any more.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I'm often apprehensive with my songs. I shared an unfinished version of Motions with Brian Doerksen at a workshop and his response affirmed me in my writing like never before. That encounter encouraged me to write and share more music.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I've collaborated with a few people in the past, but that music never gained any traction. I would love to collaborate on worship music with other songwriters who have a passion for local church music and publish that music with them.
