About Toothgrinder
A punishing hard rock outfit based out of Asbury Park, New Jersey, Toothgrinder employ a lethal mix of melody and muscle that incorporates elements of post-grunge, post-hardcore, and groove metal. Founded in 2010 and featuring the talents of vocalist Justin Matthews, bassist Matt Arensdorf, drummer Wills Weller, and guitarists Jason Goss and Johnuel Hasney, Toothgrinder dropped a trio of EPs (Turning of the Tides, Vibration/Colour/Frequency, and Schizophrenic Jubilee) before unleashing their Spinefarm Records-issued full-length debut, Nocturnal Masquerade, in 2016, which featured a guest vocal by Periphery's Spencer Sotelo. A sophomore effort, Phantom Armour, arrived the following year, again on Spinefarm. A year later, I Am followed a similar sonic trajectory as their previous efforts. ~ James Christopher Monger
