Artist Biography
Trez Falsetto is a contemporary R&B singer and songwriter who, much like influences such as R. Kelly and Chris Brown, specializes in lyrically frank slow jams. Active as a recording artist since the latter half of the 2010s, he has released several singles, as well as a mixtape, Just Because (2018).
Born and raised in Durham, North Carolina, Trez Falsetto started singing as a youngster in church. He eventually played drums and trumpet, and developed his basketball talent, but a heart condition, diagnosed during his senior year of high school, cut short his promising future in athletics. While attending North Carolina Central University, Trez pushed forward with music and started to build an audience through local performances and social media. With support from the independent label Five Star Empire, Trez released his first commercial singles, including the frank slow jam "Used 2" and the Swift collaboration "Blow," in 2017. The two tracks formed the basis of the short mixtape Just Because, uploaded in 2018, the same year the singer opened for the likes of R. Kelly and RBRM (aka New Edition veterans Bell Biv DeVoe and Bobby Brown). Additional singles via Five Star such as "Perfect" arrived throughout 2019. ~ Andy Kellman
