Artist Biography
Baritone Tyler Duncan has had a varied career in opera and concert music in his native Canada, in the U.S., and in Europe. While at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Duncan met pianist Erika Switzer when she served as accompanist for one of his voice lessons; the two married and have frequently performed together. In 2005, he made his recording debut on the album 21st Century Instrumental Solos. In the 2010s, Duncan's operatic career began in earnest. He is committed to new opera, having sung in Nigredo Hotel by Nic Gotham and performing in the world premiere of Jonathan Berger's Leonardo. Duncan made his solo debut in 2018 on the album Andrew Staniland: Go by Contraries, accompanied by Switzer. In 2023, the pair returned with the album A Left Coast, featuring songs by Vancouver composers.
