In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Hearing my mother singing a lullaby to me at a very young age. It was magical, and definitely made me aware of my connection to music, to melody, and sound.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Maoz Tsur” It is a beautiful hymn, in a Mediterranean (Sephardic) style, for the holiday of Hanuka, which is not often heard.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Conducting the Vancouver Inter-Cultural Orchestra in a performance of my own composition, Ani Ma-amin (I Believe), in front of the Dalai Lama, and other honoured guests, at a tribute concert for peace, in 2004.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Making our music available to a wide audience, via Apple Music and other platforms. Helping the public understand the breadth of Jewish Music, with roots not only in Eastern Europe (Klezmer) but in North Africa and the Middle East as well.
