An uncompromisingly American heavy metalcore group, Vatican emerged in 2015 with the mosh pit-worthy EP Drowning the Apathy Inside, and made their full-length debut in 2019 with the equally punitive Sole Impulse. Based out of Savannah, Georgia, the straight-edge metallers converged in 2015 and released Drowning the Apathy Inside. By 2017 the band had coalesced around a lineup consisting of Jonathan Mackey, Nolan Mobley, Tom Lovejoy, Jonathan Whittle, and Josian Soto-Ramos. They explored themes of mental illness, loss, and grief with extreme decibel prejudice on 2017's Ache of Eternity, and in 2019 they issued their first long-player, the post-hardcore and death metal-influenced Sole Impulse. ~ James Christopher Monger
