The pianist of the Bang on a Can All-Stars, Vicky Chow is a major force in contemporary music in New York, where she is based. Chow has collaborated with numerous composers, artists, and ensembles in that field. At the Manhattan School of Music, Chow became part of an active new music scene, and composer Andy Akiho wrote a piece, Vick(i/y), for her in 2008. The following year, Chow joined the Bang on a Can All-Stars. She has toured widely with that group and made a number of recordings, beginning with Big, Beautiful, Dark and Scary in 2012. She made her solo recording debut with Tristan Perich: Surface Image in 2014 and followed that up with Aorta in 2016 and Michael Gordon: Sonatra in 2018. Chow has made several recordings of music by composer Jane Antonia Cornish, including Sierra (2022).
