About Vulvodynia
Artist Biography
South Africa's Vulvodynia is an uncompromising slam band with a sound rooted in brutal technical death metal and pummeling deathcore. Emerging in 2014, the group enjoyed regional success before setting their sights on the rest of the world. Their 2019 album Mob Justice, which explored societal tensions in their homeland, elicited international acclaim and resulted in a record deal with Unique Leader. This global recognition fueled Vulvodynia's ambition, and they continued to claw their way to the fore of the extreme metal scene with subsequent efforts Praenuntius Infiniti (2021) and Entabeni (2024), the latter of which looked to African folklore for inspiration.
