In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Guitarist Nalu Robinson remembers getting a guitar for Christmas and learning how to play Narvana's Nevermind album. Vocalist/Bassist Kalani Librando-Souza remembers looking up words and chords on the website Tropical Storm with his brother.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Pepper, Kona Town Pirates of Liloa, Mainland Hawaiian The Expendables, The Expendables These albums encouraged us to have fun with our music and to find our own style. These are some of the first reggae albums that our guitarist and producer Nalu Robinson ever listened to, and as a result have had a heavy influence on our music.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Not Unless You Try” This song was written by drummer Manali'i while in high school. This is the first song we ever recorded. The guitar work was originally done by Evan Hernandez, due to a computer malfunction the files were lost and had to be re done by Nalu Robinson.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? After band practice, at about 12:30am. We sat down and decided that now was the time to chose our band name. We sat there for over an hour running through names when finally we threw out the name Wai-Knot. I just felt right because, Wai-Knot?
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Our bucket list is too extensive to fit in this box. We have so many goals and aspirations in sight, you'll just have to wait and see.
