About We Need Secrets
The solo project of Kestrels' Chad Peck, Halifax, Nova Scotia's We Need Secrets continues the tradition of shoegaze luminaries such as My Bloody Valentine, the Swirlies, and fellow Canadians Eric's Trip. The project began when Peck recorded songs on his own in his effort to learn how to play drums. When Asymmetrie issued the demo as the 2011 cassette Flutter + Hiss, it soon sold out. Later that year, the single Purple/Slow Summer arrived on Peck's Noyes label. A 2012 split single with Sea Glasses featured songs that later appeared on the project's debut album. Saint Marie Records included the band on the 2013 compilation Static Waves 2 and released 2014's more polished full-length Melancholy and the Archive. ~ Heather Phares
